SYNOPSIS

On a small island in Lake Victoria, Kenya, the fishermen believe they are entitled to everything. Meanwhile, women and girls are forced to carry the burden of silence. In an intimate journey to her childhood memories, a young woman decides to tell her story to free herself from her burden and find the path to hope...

MEET THE DIRECTOR

IKER ESTEIBARLANDA

Iker Esteibarlanda (1992) is a filmmaker, screenwriter and editor. After premiering his first short film, BENEATH THE TREES (2014) in international festivals, and becoming the youngest director featured in the Official Selection of the 15th Film Festival of Lanzarote, he has developed his career in the field of documentary filmmaking, always focusing on human stories. Of note is his work as an Assistant Director and Editor for four years on the animated and real footage feature UN DÍAS MÁS CON VIDA (2018), which premiered in the Official Section of Cannes Film Festival and has received awards at EFA, Goya Awards, Platino Awards and San Sebastian Film Festival. BEFORE I DIE (2020) is his second short film.

ESPAÑOL

Iker Esteibarlanda (1992) es realizador, guionista y editor. Tras estrenar su primer cortometraje titulado BENEATH THE TREES (2014) en festivales internacionales y ser el director más joven de la Sección Oficial del 15º Festival de Cine de Lanzarote, ha desarrollando su carrera en el ámbito del cine documental, siempre contando historias humanas. Cabe destacar su trabajo como ayudante de dirección y edición durante 4 años en el largometraje de animación e imagen real UN DÍA MÁS CON VIDA (2018), estrenado en la Sección Oficial del Festival de Cine de Cannes y que ha recibido los premios EFA, Goya y Platino a Mejor Largometraje de Animación y el Premio del Público en el Festival de San Sebastián. BEFORE I DIE (2020) es su segundo cortometraje.
